Sometimes it’s all about me
Thanks for visiting Garand4Life’s blog! Of all the places on the web you could be right now, you chose here?! Don’t tell me you found this page by accident. I believe it.
If your a shooting enthusiast or just a curious bystander trying to decide whether or not guns are the “EVIL THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED” I encourage you to take the time to view this site as I build what I hope will be a common person’s window into the gun culture. From self defense to firearm reviews to just simple stupidity this is going to be my ongoing project to provide some entertaining resources.
To give you some idea of who I am or rather what I am not; I am not a Navy Seal or an Operator for a black ops security company. Nor am I am member of law enforcement or a member of the military. I am simply a civilian gun owner and concealed weapon permit holder. Much like millions of other Americans. And just like millions of other Americans I had a litany of questions when I started out on this journey. I had no idea what I was doing when it came to firearms other than the many misconceptions I had from the main stream media and modern TV and movies. Since I purchased my first handgun the day I turned 21 I have had the opportunity to compete in various shooting sports at a intermediate level as well as learn from some of the brightest and most influential minds in the firearms and personal defense community. So let me help you to understand what it means to be an armed and responsible citizen and help you to decide what role firearms could play in your everyday life. You can always contact me with questions or comments through this site. No question is stupid and when I don’t have the answer I will give you every resource I can to help you find it.

Its nice to have somewhere to see and talk about firearms responsibly, none of the people i hang with are interested cool stuff like guns and tactical gear.
Hopefully I found a place to talk about and share ideas with. Thanks , and keep up the great videos.
Thanks for the visit. It’s sad that we as a culture (firearms culture) are -A- embarrassed by our hobby or -B- scared to be labeled as a nut case for our interest and passion for firearms and the sports associated with them. And rightfully so. We are vilified by the “elite” sect of our society. Keep enjoying those “dangerous killing machines” and I challenge you to invite your uninterested friends to the range. Or even better go to USPSA or IDPA’s website and find a local match to take them to.
I found your videos on youtube while doing a search for the Smith M&P. I like your approach to guns and your laid back and honest opinion. I own two handguns, a S&W 629 and a Springfield XD9 SC. Looking to add a .40 to the arsenal. Being a left handed shooter I find the M&P very attractive.
Hi!
I watched your video on the S&W mp compact and I’m hoping to get your opinion. My wife and I took a CCW class this month in central Ohio. We’ve never shot a gun until this time. A couple weeks ago, we bought our first guns. On the gunshop salesman advice, I bought the full size 9mm S&W mp and she bought the S&W mp compact 9mm, hoping to carry it for conceal. We’ve been to the range twice (about 100rounds) now and we’ve had no problems with the full size. However with the compact, three times out of about 100rounds, the shell hasnt ejected and the next round has tried to load. Being new to all this, we’re very concerned. I dont know if it’s something we’re doing wrong or what. Would you have any suggestions regarding this? Thank You!
doug and kathy
Doug, first of all congradulations on making the decision to get trained. I have to say of all the handguns I’ve used the M&P is my favorite. Every gun, you will find, has its own quarks. A couple of things could be playing a role in your FTE (Failure to Eject) leading to a doublefeed. This could be caused by a bad extractor on the gun. Not a problem considering S&W’s excellent customer service and repair team. A couple of things I would try before sending it in would be to see if the issue only occurs with one magazine, try using another magazine or even one from your full size 9. Try using a different brand of ammo, some guns just don’t like certain brands of ammo.
If you can try to put another 100 rounds through this gun to ensure it has had an opportunity to breakin, most M&Ps I’ve had usually need a 100 to 200 rounds just to get loosened up.
If none of this helps call S&W at 18003310852. Explain to them the problem and they will get you taken care of quickly.
Best of luck to you and I hope to hear the outcome from you once this is resolved.
